Access to the large, state-of-the-art swimming pools and equipment begins as early as 5:30 a.m. to provide visitors and members with plenty of opportunities to swim and stay fit at their convenience. Aquatic classes and swimming lessons are offered at various times throughout the week.

There are two JCC aquatic centers in St. Louis. The Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur has a four-lane, 25-yard lap pool, which is also used for various aquatic programing and fitness classes, as well as a recreational pool, which boasts newly built kids’ area and two water slides. The Marilyn Fox Building in Chesterfield has a six-lane competition pool that hosts the JCC Alpha Waves Swim Club and Swim Academy, in addition to water fitness classes. Both JCC facilities also have outdoor swimming areas for when the weather warms up.

The indoor aquatic center facilities are open throughout the winter at both convenient St. Louis-area locations. Lap swimmers like to know that the J keeps the water temperature between 78 and 82 degrees.

The J’s aquatic centers both have a wide variety of opportunities for swimmers of all skill levels. Members can participate in group swim classes or private lessons for both adults and children. Swim Boot Camp, offered on Saturdays at the Staenberg Complex, encourages participants to increase their strength and endurance through exercises both in and out of the pool. Adaptive Aquatics brings participants of all ages into the shallow, warm water therapy pool with a certified adaptive swim instructor. Interested swimmers aged 15 and older can take lifeguarding classes and get certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard.

Members looking for a more fun and relaxed class at the St. Louis aquatic centers might enjoy Aqua Zumba, which combines dancing, music, and water in an exciting way. Aqua Chi incorporates neurological exercises to increase balance, coordination and agility. There are also classes for individuals with Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis, to help participants strengthen their muscles and improve flexibility and balance. Best of all, these classes (as well as 200 other group exercise classes per week) are free for members.

All memberships are month-to-month. In addition to free group classes, members enjoy free towel and locker use, and free steam room and sauna. Memberships can be purchased for individuals, couples, and families. These aquatic centers in St. Louis allow visitors and members to take a break from the cold winter weather and warm up with some fun, healthy aquatic fitness!
