Birth-PreK
Early Childhood Centers
|
Our JCC is available for children beginning at six weeks
old. The Early Childhood Centers
at both the Carlyn H. Wohl and Marilyn Fox Buildings offer full
support to parents in their efforts to develop well-rounded children.
We focus on several areas of development for infants and toddlers. We
emphasize the educational process and encourage children to explore
their surroundings through the use of their senses. Play helps children
develop well-rounded personalities in four essential areas of life –
social, physical, cognitive and emotional/spiritual. Children in our
program get to explore other departments in the JCC as part of their
day. These include physical education, aquatics, summer camps, music and intergenerational programming.

Helene Mirowitz
Department of Jewish Community Life
Young children have the chance to
participate in numerous fun and outstanding programs with our Helene Mirowitz Department of Jewish
Community Life. Programs begin with Shalom Baby, which welcomes Jewish newborns
to St. Louis
and the Jewish community, and continuing with several fun, social and often
education programs. Other programs include Shake, Rattle & Splash, our popular Shalom Neighbor Shabbat Picnics, the annual Tour de Fun and other fun activities. Also available in the way of social programs is Kindermusik and Gateway Music Together, LC, both which aim to integrate music
into the lives of children and begin as early as birth to seven years old.
Sports, Recreation
and Aquatics
Physical development is vital for children in this age
group. With the benefit of our Sports, Recreation and Aquatics Department, pre-school
aged children can participate in J Motion or Mighty Movers and kids slightly
older can get into our Pre-K Sports Clubs. All classes aim to further develop
your child’s confidence and look to assist in developing motor skills,
coordination, balance, flexibility and body awareness. Our Start Smart sports
programs also let children as young as three get into their favorite sports,
with their parent’s assistance. Baseball, basketball and soccer are all
available for your child to explore. Children as young as six months can also
begin to experience the pool with swim lessons and they can advance as they get
older.
My dad enjoyed participating in the J’s Adult Day Services program. It gave him dignity and a purposeful way to spend his final years.
