Fall 2008

American Red Cross
Lifeguard Training Course          
15 yrs and older The prerequisite for this class includes completing a 300 yard swim and brick swim test. This course teaches the duties and responsibilities of lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies and procedures to carry them out in a professional manner. Completion certifies participant as an American Red Cross Lifeguard. It includes certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillation, and Bloodborne Pathogens Training.

American Red Cross
CPR for the Professional Rescuer
    15 yrs and older Geared to the professional rescuer, this course covers two-rescuer CPR, use of a resuscitation mask, use of a bag valve mask, use of an AED, and a review of fundamental adult, infant and child CPR skills. Students can earn a CPR/PR/AED certificate valid for one year.

American Red Cross
First Aid Course                   
        15 yrs and older
This course trains Lay Responders to recognize and respond to an emergency, and give care to help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives. The component course includes identifying and treating shock, stroke, diabetic emergencies, heat and cold related emergencies, poisoning and allergic reactions. In addition, you will learn to control bleeding, care for a muscle, bone or joint injury, and care for a head, neck or back injury. Students will receive a First Aid certificate valid for three years.
