Aesop’s Fables Deluxe
New to the J this year! This program introduces participants to musical theatre through acting games, music, dancing, and imaginative improvisation. Structured specifically for Kindergarteners, Kochavim Kindergarten is an hour of fun geared towards their grade level. As a final presentation, this group will perform a staged, musical version of some of the world’s most famous fables as the “Opening Act” for the Theatre Kochavim’s production of “Rumpus in the Rainforest.” No audition required!

Theatre Kochavim 1st-2nd gradeRumpus in the RainforestGet into the act as we rehearse and perform a fun musical. Frog desperately wants to get off the jungle floor and see the sky---but who will help him climb above the canopy? The Jaguar loves the jungle floor, the Sloth family keeps falling asleep, and the Howler Monkeys have gone nuts. Meanwhile, two bungling Explorers stumble by in search of the Lost Ancient City of Choco--late. No wonder the jungle is going crazy. And have you ever seen so many ants? There tons of roles, so EVERYONE will get a chance to be a part of the excitement. Participants learn the basics of musical theatre performance including singing, dancing, stage presence, acting, teamwork, and public speaking. No audition required!

A Connecticut Yankee – The MusicalJoin us on a tuneful journey to Camelot, experiencing the thrilling days of King Arthur, and the Knights and Ladies of the Round Table. Hank Morgan, a modern-day teenager who works on his school's stage crew, is knocked out by a co-worker. He finds himself in Camelot, where, after predicting an eclipse of the sun, he is hailed a great wizard. After being knighted as "Sir Boss," he sets out to modernize Camelot, complete with bicycles, T-shirts and telephones. The king's wicked half-sister is plotting against Camelot, however, planning an invasion with her own army. Auditions required, but everyone is cast!

Theatre Chaverim 6th-8th grade
The Secret GardenEveryone will love this upbeat, musical adaptation of the Frances Hodgson Burnett classic. Mary Lennox is sent to live in England after her parents die in India, but Misselthwaite Manor turns out to be a gloomy fortress. Her uncle is rarely home and his young son, Colin, never leaves his room, convinced he's an incurable invalid. Mary discovers a strange walled garden that has been locked up for years. With the gardener's apprentice, Dickon, Mary coaxes the garden back to life. The garden seems to have a wonderful, magical effect on all who come into it, allowing Mary to help restore Colin to health and reunite him with his father. With great music, and lots of parts, the actors will enjoy this show as much as the audience. Auditions required, but everyone is cast!
