Kindertransport
by Diane Samuels

November 28 - December 16

Shortly before the outbreak of World War II, nearly 10,000 unaccompanied children escaped Germany for the relative freedom of Britain. Most never saw their parents again. Were they fortunate refugees or forever haunted by their loss and a sense of parental betrayal?

Kindertransport tells the story of Evelyn, a British woman in her fifties, and Eva, the nine-year-old German child she used to be. This powerful and resonant study in dislocation, denial and the guilt of survival explores the relationship between mothers and daughters.  We watch as the past is uncovered, changing the present forever.

Attending Camp Hawthorn (now Camp Sabra) is one of my fondest childhood memories. It shaped who I am today. I learned how to get along with others, never give up, be responsible and embrace my Jewish identity. I loved it so much I vowed to send my kids someday.
