Kindermusik for the Young Child – Year I
5-6 yrs
Kindermusik for the Young Child is a pressure-free approach to learning how to read, play and appreciate music. In small, movement-oriented classes, instrument-playing skills are developed with the introduction of pre-keyboard, wind, percussion and stringed instruments. Through upbeat movement and games, children explore and expand their singing voices, are exposed to multiple musical styles (such as classical, jazz, multi-cultural) and dance styles. Adults attend last 10 minutes of class.

Kindermusik for the Young Child – Year II
5-6 yrs
~ Also see description for Young Child Year I ~
This course is a continuation of Year I, with more advanced music theory, music notation and rhythm-reading in a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere. Introduction to the three-stringed dulcimer (first semester) and recorder (second semester) gives children the hands-on experience of both a stringed and wind instrument. Composers, famous orchestral pieces, orchestra instruments, and music from around the world are explored. This strong foundation of musical skills enables and motivates children to continue after Kindermusik with music lessons on an instrument, voice, or to pursue other musical endeavors. Adults attend last 10 minutes of class. Contact: Jan Fishman 314-434-9496.

Attending Camp Hawthorn (now Camp Sabra) is one of my fondest childhood memories. It shaped who I am today. I learned how to get along with others, never give up, be responsible and embrace my Jewish identity. I loved it so much I vowed to send my kids someday.
