Helping Hands Always Welcome!
With hundreds of programs each year, the J is always looking for volunteers to help fulfill our mission in serving the community. Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of activities, including but not limited to:
- Help us prepare and run a specific event
- Serve meals to seniors
- Assist with office and clerical work
- Help in an Early Childhood classroom
- Coach a youth sports team (baseball, basketball, soccer, etc.)
- And the possibilities go on . . .
Used Book Sale
Help us set up and run the J's Used Book Sale!
Used Book Sale Preparations
Volunteer markers are needed at Epstein Hebrew Academy (1138 Warson Road, between Olive and Page, minutes from the J) to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day to help categorize and alphabetize books. Volunteers are trained, and there is no heavy lifting. Full and part-time shifts available.
Tuesdays & Thursdays, Ongoing, 10am - 1pm (set your own time if you are unable to stay all hours)
Make a difference in someone's life.
Help someone with special needs by being a volunteer in one of our programs. These include Sunday Friendship, Theatre Unlimited, PEERS, Buddies at Work and fitness classes. You can make a difference in helping someone make a new friend, help them learn a new job skill or even help them learn lines for their play.
The J has many bulk mail projects that require sorting, folding and stuffing. These are ongoing projects, without set start and end times.
Help others step into the spotlight
Have a love of theatre? Help our Youth Theatre department as they prepare to take the stage this spring. Rehearsals are on Sundays at Fox with final rehearsals and performances at the Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur. Act as a stage manager - attend rehearsals, prop & costome organization, light office work and earn our standing ovation.
Shabbat Dinner Volunteers
Adults or 10yrs and older with an adult
Be a part of this rewarding experience as you assist in serving Shabbat meals to seniors. It's like having a whole group of wonderful grandparents! It will be a meaningful experience for you and an enjoyable one for the seniors.
Kitchen J/MEAAA Covenant Place Senior Center Meal Site
Fridays (ongoing), 3:30-4:30pm (set up) and 4:40-6pm (dinner service)
Become a Mentor and Coach
We are now accepting volunteer coaches for the season. As a non-profit organization, we rely on volunteer coaches to help run our programs. It is these individuals that make the program successful year after year. Volunteers are needed for flag football, soccer, baseball, and basketball.
Help Children in our After-school Programs
Our after-school programs are looking for people to help with homework and to share their hobbies with school-age children.
Throughout the year, there are special events (like the Labor Day Run, Special Olympics, or the Turkey Triathalon) - one-day and weekend programs that need extra help. You can register now to be notified when those special events need your help as a volunteer.
Help with the Maccabi Games
The St. Louis Jewish community is hosting Jewish student athletes for a unique social, cultural, and life shaping experience in the Summer of 2016 (July 31 - August 5). You can help by hosting athletes, greeting athletes, serving meals, and many other oppurtunities. Visit the 2016 St. Louis JCC Maccabi Games website for more information about the games.

Create Experiences for Seniors
The adult day program is looking for volunteers to help with men’s, gardening, art, and cooking clubs. Here, you can help seniors in the program do things they love to do.
Should your volunteer interests not match well with the J’s needs at the moment, we will be more than happy to connect you with a community program that might better fit your goals. Thank you so much for being part of the J!
