Adult Day Center Program Aide
We have an opening at the Jewish Community Center for a Program Aide in our Adult Day Center. This full time and benefited position is located at our Creve Coeur facility which features a specially designed and dedicated space for this program. Our center is licensed and accredited by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and operates Monday- Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm. The schedule for this position is 7:30am-3:00pm, Monday- Friday.
Summary: To assist the participants by providing health monitoring, personal care, and mobility assistance at the Adult Day Center program. To provide assistance in all areas of Adult Day Center program as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist participants in the restroom to maintain good personal care.
- Assist participants to and from the buses.
- Assist the participants with mobility issues in: transferring to a wheel chair, standing from a seated position and walking throughout the program areas.
- Set tables for both breakfast and lunch with proper utensils for dairy and/or meat meals.
- Assist with serving meals and drinks as well as assist with clean up.
- Run department’s laundry every Friday for aprons, towels, dishcloths. (wash, dry, fold, put away) Laundry machines are located within the department.
- Assist Activity Director with stocking supplies from deliveries as needed.
- Communicate with Nurse regarding health and/or behavioral changes when noted.
- Provide dining room coverage while participants are eating lunch.
- Assist in the program activities as needed.
- Attend in-services and staff meetings as required.
- All other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Current MO Medication Aide Certification is preferred.
- C.N.A. certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in a geriatric care setting is required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with cognitively impaired frail adults.
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook)
- Visual and auditory acuity to perform the position.

Adult Day Center Nurse
We have an opening at the Jewish Community Center for a Nurse. This is a full-time position with benefits available in our busy Adult Day Services Program located at our Creve Coeur facility. This position is a daytime position, Monday –Friday. No nights or weekends.
Purpose of the Job: To perform all health monitoring and nursing services in accordance with state law and licensure requriements. Maintain or improve the health of participants through observation, medication administration and health monitoring of participants throughout the day; provide emergency first aid assistance when necessary.
Essential Tasks:
- Provide health care monitoring and medication administration to the participants on a daily basis. Conduct monthly weight and blood pressure checks for all participants and record to file.
- Assist the participants with mobility and transfers (from chair or wheelchair) during transition periods throughout the day.
- Provide toileting and personal care assistance to those participants who need assistance by providing physical assistance, verbal cues, as well as shower assistance.
- Create, communicate and update daily shower, toileting, physical therapy, and medication schedules. Review the daily transportation list to know attendance for the day and any cancellations.
- Maintain contact with families and physicians when physical changes are noted, new participant paperwork is needed, medications require refill, documentation of medication change is needed, personal care items require replenishment or a fresh change of clothes are needed.
- Throughout the day check mailbox, voicemail/phone and respond to inquiries or forward to the appropriate person. Check the team communication log for any participant or staff updates.
- Provide health education to families and co-workers which will benefit program participants.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of medication administration/inventory, patient charting, Medicaid charting, and personal care schedule. Ensure all state and licensure requirements are met.
- Participate in care planning sessions.
- Along with Social Worker, conduct admission assessments to determine suitability for our program and participant needs.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Coordinate with Buildings and Grounds department to ensure clean towels are available and dirty laundry is picked up for washing.
- Greet participants in the lobby each morning; provide name tags, safety guards and mobility assistance as needed. Help participants arriving on our transport buses transition into the building.
- Provide dining room coverage while the participants are eating breakfast and lunch.
- Provide afternoon mobility assistance to participants who are returning to our transport buses to go home.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must hold current Missouri nursing license (LPN or RN)
- Must have current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (training provided if expired)
- Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills are required.
- Prior experience in a geriatric setting is required.
- Ability to work with cognitively impaired, developmentally disabled and or medically frail adults.

Kitchen Worker I
We have an opening at the Jewish Community Center for a Kitchen Worker I to join our Nutrition department team. This position is at our Creve Coeur location and is eligible for our employee benefits package. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm (30 hours per week). Our Nutrition department provides daily meals for our Early Childhood and Adult Day Center programs, an evening meal for Covenant House residents, home delivered meals for area residents, and catering services.
General Description:
Wash dishes and perform other cleaning tasks in JCC Nutrition kitchens and in designated areas at Covenant House. Prepares food in JCC Nutrition kitchens and assists with catering as needed.
Duties:
- Provide exemplary customer service at all times.
- Wash all dishes and cookware from both the kitchen and Covenant House.
- Prepare hot and cold foods as directed by Kitchen Manager.
- Responsible for frozen weekend meal preparation.
- Transport food and supplies to EC and ADC.

Early Childhood Teachers
The JCC has two openings for Early Childhood Teachers to join our Centers. These positions are full time and include benefits.
Creve Coeur: 30 hours per week position
Chesterfield: 40 hours per week position
The J’s Early Childhood Program is an “Ethical Start School” accredited by the State of Missouri and licensed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. We provide care for children ages 6 weeks – 5 years of age in a safe, warm, nurturing environment that helps children feel good about themselves and the world around them. Our program operates from 7am to 6pm, Monday - Friday. Applicants should have flexibility to work within our operating schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver curriculum for assigned class
- Schedule, prepare and conduct parent teacher conferences for your class.
- Set up, take down and clean classroom as necessary.
- Follow all Missouri licensure and JCC guidelines in the course of your work.
- Perform anecdotal record keeping, for example, daily observations, injury reports, parent inquiries, etc.
- Communicate professionally with parents and coworkers. Maintain a professional attitude at all times.

Program Coordinator, Israel Family Challenge
The Jewish Community Center has a new, part time position for a Program Coordinator, JCC Israel Family Challenge to join our team. This is a new and exciting program which we are launching for Spring of 2012. The hours for this position will range from 8-10 hours per week, Monday- Friday during normal business hours with flexibility for employee preference of schedule within that framework.
This position is part of the Helene Mirowitz Center of Jewish Community Life department which promotes Jewish identity and culture through programs and services to serve the St. Louis Jewish community. For many individuals, Israel is an important element of their Jewish identity. The goal of this new program is to help families develop and strengthen their connections to the people, culture, land, and history of ancient and modern Israel.
Summary:
This position will lead, design, and coordinate the JCC Israel Family Challenge for our community.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create framework and rules for the JCC Israel Family Challenge
- Develop a menu of over thirty “Israel engagement” family activities which help families achieve the program goal of developing and strengthening their connection to Israel.
- Design structure and secure prize rewards by purchasing and/or soliciting donations. Work together with the JCC’s Development department while soliciting donations.
- Work collaboratively with other Jewish professionals in St. Louis and Israel as appropriate to design and implement activities for participating families.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy and plan in conjunction with JCC marketing department to recruit families to participate in the challenge. Actively promote the challenge throughout the St Louis Jewish community. Build
- partnerships with local organizations in support of the challenge.
- Build positive relationships with participants, prospective participants, and partner organizations.
- Maintain relationships with participating families, stay in communication, and track their participation throughout the challenge period.

KidZone Babysitters
We have part time openings at the JCC for Babysitters to join our KidZone staff at both of our locations. Positions are part time with day, evening and weekend time slots available.

Volunteer Coordinator
We have an open position at the Jewish Community Center for a part time Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. Across our agency in 2011, 1000 volunteers logged more than 20,000 hours of service for the community. This position is primarily located in Creve Coeur with occasional travel to our Chesterfield location as required. Flexibility of schedule is required with the position averaging 17 hours per week.
Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for marketing, recruiting, training, placement and tracking of JCC volunteers.
Essential Tasks:
- Together with the Director, Community Relations, recruit, train, interview and assess interested volunteers for placement.
- Manage volunteer process from start to finish ensuring all necessary steps are completed.
- Create packaged service learning projects, including practicum experiences, to be made available to local high school/college students.
- Market volunteer opportunities to the community to include, but not limited to: United Way, Jewish Federation, JCC Website, local high schools and colleges. Work with Marketing Team to develop appropriate marketing strategy and materials.
- Process background checks on all volunteers prior to assignment.
- Provide orientation for both volunteers and their staff supervisors to ensure a quality experience. The orientation must include all applicable policies, procedures and safety requirements.
- Maintain volunteer files, statistics and database for tracking all activities within the volunteer program areas.
- Participate in agency departmental meetings to represent the volunteer program and to indentify and plan volunteer participation together with each department.
- Support and promote meaningful recognition programs for volunteers.

Member Services Coordinators
We have openings at the Jewish Community Center for part time Member Services Coordinators to join our team. Our Member Services Coordinators work at our various customer desks: Front, Fitness, Pool, and Spa. These positions are located at both our Creve Coeur and Chesterfield locations. Summary: Provide exemplary customer service for all internal and external agency constituents by assisting visitors/ members of the J as well as provide for the safety and well-being of patrons throughout the facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Say, “hi” to all incoming members and guests and greet them with enthusiasm. Efficiently check members in, provide them with guidance as required, and direct guests to the Sales Team.
- Sell and process memberships when required. Proactively engage guests to convert to members. Facilitate campus tours, ensure applications are properly completed, verify status, and take pictures for membership cards.
- Serve as liaison between members and program areas.
- Answer multi-line telephone system: answer a variety of questions regarding programs and classes offered, center operations, etc. Must develop in-depth knowledge of agency offerings and core activities.
- Accept reservations/registrations for classes, services (massage), programs, and courts. Add registrants to appropriate rosters and process payments as necessary.
- Ensure that workspace and equipment are cleaned on a regular basis. Use proper materials and safety apparatus, as needed, to successfully complete said task.
- Report any and all deficiencies and/or issues to the appropriate supervisor utilizing prescribed communication tools and method. Learn and follow all J procedures regarding accidents, emergencies, and incidents.
- Respond to member and guest queries about programs, services, and various pieces of equipment and their utilization and operation.
- Return all equipment to its designed space at regular intervals during shift, including weights, balls, mats, etc.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Current CPR Certification for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and AED. Must be maintained to hold position; training will be provided if do not already hold certification.
- Prior customer service and sales experience desired.

Sports Camp Coordinator
We have an opening at the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis for a Sports Camp Coordinator in our 2012 Summer Day Camp program. This seasonal position is available at the Creve Coeur location. Camp runs for 10 weeks, June 4-August 10. In addition to sports, the sports camp includes the following activities for the campers: swimming, arts & crafts, drama, music, Isreali culture, cooking, field trips and nature.

Senior Olympics Coordinator
We have a seasonal, part time position available at the Jewish Community Center for a Senior Olympics Coordinator. This position runs from February to June, working 20-40 hours per week. Applicants please take note that attendance at the Senior Olympics is mandatory and the event takes place over Memorial Day weekend, May 24-29, 2012.
The St. Louis Senior Olympics promotes the health and wellness of men and women 50 years of age and better by providing them opportunities to participate in competitive and social events. This Olympic-style competition offers 80+ different events. This position will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Director and volunteers to implement a strategic plan that contributes to the continued success of the games.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with Director, Agency Volunteer Coordinator and Development Director to implement a volunteer and participant recruitment program
- Responsible for and supervises volunteers in processing entry forms and mailing confirmation notices utilizing two software programs. Provide assistance to athletes during the entry process. Run reporting to track entries to date and ensure accuracy of entries.
- Utilizing Agency Marketing department, assist the Director with the development of all print material including but not limited to newsletters and entry forms.
- Research potential corporate partnerships with different programs in and around the St. Louis area, in conjunction with Development department, to increase participation in the Games.
- Assist Director and volunteers with responding to participant, volunteer, sponsor and media inquiries
- Work collaboratively with the games chairperson, committee members and volunteers in the planning of the Games.
- During the Games and immediately after tabulate and publish results.
- Ensure that appropriate appreciation correspondence is sent to all parties. Maintain a master list of all who should receive a thank you, for what and when sent.
- Build positive relationships with participants, volunteers, staff and sponsors
- Assist collaborating with other groups and organizations which will result in meeting event goals
- Attend all committee meetings and brainstorming sessions, assist the Director with following up on action items as well as attend the Games on May 24 – 29, 2012 (Memorial Day weekend).

Adult Sports Coordinator
We have an open position at the Jewish Community Center for a seasonal, part time Adult Sports Coordinator. This position runs from February to June 2012, with hours ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week. The weekly schedule for this position is Sunday-Thursday (Sunday mornings; Monday-Thursday afternoons/evenings). Position Overview
The Sports Recreation & Aquatics Department (SRA) promotes wellness as the primary goal by offering programming that supports the physical, social and emotional well being of our participants. Success is achieved through community outreach, quality programming, upholding Jewish values, professional staffing and fiscal responsibility. Adult Sports is a core component to the SRA Department with sports including basketball, floor hockey, racquetball, softball and volleyball and special events such as the Senior Olympics, Indoor Triathlon and Labor Day Run.
This position will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Adult Sports Supervisor to ensure the upkeep and quality of the sports and recreation programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing and supervising programs including but not limited to basketball, floor hockey, racquetball, softball and volleyball
- Assist in planning, organizing and supervising one day and special events and tournaments
- Share responsibilities for supervision of facilities, public relations and program responsibilities
- Maintain league standings
- Act as Supervisor on duty for league games: Sunday mornings and Monday-Thursday evenings.

The Club Counselors
We have openings at the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis for Counselors in our pre and post care children’s programming. Camp Counselors - Summer 2012
We have openings for Camp Counselors in our 2012 Summer Day Camp program. These seasonal positions are available at both locations, Creve Coeur and Chesterfield. Most camps run for 10 weeks, June 4 - August 10. Summary:
This part time, seasonal position works with children in Kindergarten through 5th grades. The position entails developing a skill- based curriculum, designing cheer, dance, and poms routines, and teaching them to the youth in a fun and safe atmosphere, with a culminating pep rally for family and friends.

Officials and Scorekeepers
We have openings at the Jewish Community Center for part time Officials and Scorekeepers for Youth and Adult sports programs. These seasonal positions are located at our Chesterfield and Creve Coeur locations.
General Responsibility:
Officiate and keep score of games in our sports leagues (basketball, baseball, softball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, floor hockey, etc.) while educating players on the game. Our youth programs focus on developing young players through skill building and good sportsmanship. Our adult leagues are recreational leagues that encompass fun and friendly competition while maintaining respect and dignity both on and off the field.
Duties include:

- Carry out the duties of an official, including the calling of fouls, rule violations, communicating with coaches and players while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Accurately record the score of the game and required statistics.

Overview:
The J’s Early Childhood Program is an “Ethical Start School” accredited by the State of Missouri and licensed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. We use the Project Construct Curriculum Framework in our Center. We provide care for children ages six-weeks to 5 years of age in a safe, warm, nurturing environment that helps children feel good about themselves and the world around them. Our program operates from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Applicants should have flexibility to work within our operating schedule.

Lifeguards, Swim Instructors
We have open positions at the Jewish Community Center for Lifeguards and Swim Instructors. These part time positions are available at our Creve Coeur and Chesterfield locations. Our Aquatics program takes place in six indoor and outdoor pools and includes: lap swimming, water walking, aqua exercise classes, swim team, lessons, water slides, and children’s water play features. Summary:
Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Substitute CDL Driver
We have an opening at the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis for an experienced Substitute CDL Driver to provide senior citizen transportation and meal delivery for our Adult Day Services and Nutrition Programs, as well as transportation services to other departments within the J as necessary. We are looking for nationally certified trainers who are available to work a flexible schedule to meet our clients’ needs. Our facilities offer private personal training studios with cutting edge equipment as well as a comprehensive fitness and sports operation including indoor and outdoor spaces for training, aquatics programming, recreational sports leagues, and an extensive group exercise program which include Pilates reformer studios.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and administer safe and effective goal oriented fitness programs, which have been approved by the JCC and/or the approved national fitness certification agencies.
- Promote personal training, fitness programs, group exercise, aquatics or other programs pertinent to our member’s needs. Present the benefits of personal training to all members and demonstrate the value of the program.

- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Must hold a current, nationally recognized Personal Training certification (NASM, NSCA, ACE, etc.) and/or a degree in a related field (i.e. Sports Medicine, Exercise Physiology, and Biomechanics).
- Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of personal training techniques, programs, and principles of physical fitness and exercise technique.
- Six months prior experience in a related field is preferred.
- Trainers must have active listening skills.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated sales experience and knowledge of the principles of salesmanship.
- Must be able to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals.
- Trainers should have flexibility of schedule to meet our patrons’ needs: day, evening, and weekend hours. While no one trainer must work all schedules, our most successful trainers are able to offer hours in all time slots.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position: bending, lifting weights of at least 50 pounds, squatting, spotting, reaching, standing, walking, and able to demonstrate exercises/techniques to patrons.
All Trainers are required to hold current CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certifications. If there is no expiration date on the certification, it will be considered expired one year from the date of issuance.

Pilates Reformer Instructors
We have openings at the Jewish Community Center for certified Pilates Reformer Instructors. These part time positions are available at our Creve Coeur and Chesterfield locations to teach private and small group sessions. Both facilities feature dedicated Mind/Body studios for yoga and pilates, Stott Reformers, and top of the line instructional equipment (elastic bands, plastic coated hand weights, pilates/yoga mats, pilates rings, etc.).
Candidates must have flexibility of schedule to meet our patrons’ needs, particularly nights and weekends.
Duties include:
- Teach a fun, informative and safe class for your participants adhering to standards set by the JCC as well as those set by the national certifying organizations which we adhere to.
- Provide outstanding customer service to members.
- Provide for member safety and well being.
- Develop further knowledge in health and fitness, including, but not limited to, the training provided by the JCC.
- Learn, follow and utilize policies, procedures, programs and equipment offered through the JCC.
- Maintain time sheets in a neat orderly fashion according to company protocol.
- Attend mandatory meetings and in-house training.
- Assist in maintaining a neat, organized and clean group exercise room.
- All other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- You must be currently certified in CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer; and hold a nationally recognized Pilates certification to instruct classes at the JCC
- Stott Pilates certification is preferred.
- Prior instructional experience preferred.

Event Staff
We have openings at the Jewish Community Center for part time Event Staff. This part time position serves as the JCC staff contact for customers who rent our facility for events before, during, and after regular JCC hours. The primary focus of this role is to ensure our client’s rental goes smoothly and that they are delighted with their experience.
Flexible schedule with availability to work evening and weekend hours is required. These positions afford a great deal of flexibility as the hours are dependent on rental bookings. We need staff willing to work events at either of our locations (Creve Coeur and Chesterfield).
Essential Functions:
- Serve as JCC staff representative for events before, during, and after JCC operational hours
- Work closely with rental customers, J members, and staff in providing superior customer service
- Coordinate with other JCC departments as necessary to fulfill customer requirements during their event.
- Present a professional appearance and demeanor at JCC events
- Assist rental customer in what they need to run a smooth event and promote customer satisfaction
- Ensure rental customer follows JCC rules and regulations
- Follow and uphold JCC rules and regulations
- Follow and be knowledgeable of JCC emergency procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Must hold/maintain current American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification (JCC can provide training)
- Demonstrated ability to multi task and problem solve efficiently.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communications
- Must be attentive to details and customer service oriented
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Flexible schedule to allow for weekend and evening work
- Must be punctual and reliable
- High School Diploma or GED required.
