Adult Day Center

The Adult Day Center at the J provides the care family members want their loved ones to get, even when they can’t be there to give it themselves.  The family can take comfort in knowing that participants in the program are getting more than care – they are joining a community of encouragement, fun and friendship.  Equally important, caregivers receive much needed respite. Activities include:

  • Daily exercise
  • Musical entertainment
  • Arts and crafts
  • Modified sports
  • Wii games
  • Small specialized groups
  • Pet Therapy
  • Intergenerational programs with local schools and the J's Early Childhood Department

The Adult Day Center serves adults who:

  • May be socially isolated, but who can continue to live in the community
  • Need assistance in performing activities of daily living
  • Need special care, but are able to participate in a group setting

The Details:

  • Provides door-to-door, escorted transportation
  • Social work support
  • Nursing/personal care 
  • Kosher meals
  • Caregiver support

Optional Services (for a fee)

  • Showers
  • Fitness services with a certified personal trainer
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapy services on-site

  • Hours: Monday-Friday from 7:30am - 6:00pm
  • Location: Downstairs in the Arts & Education Building of the Staenberg Family Complex

"I interviewed everyone in the program," [Roman] Patrick said. "I wanted her to stay engaged. And they had so many programs. There is no TV, there is no napping."

Exercise, entertainment, sing-alongs, pet therapy, arts and crafts and other creative pastimes involve participants.

The Adult Day Center at the J welcomes adults of all religious beliefs and ethnic origins.  Medicaid is accepted, and limited scholarships or grants may be available to those who qualify. Additional funding: Mid-East Area Agency on Aging under the provisions of the 1965 Older Americans Act, The Jewish Federation of St. Louis, United Way of St. Louis, the State of Missouri Medicaid Program, NADAH Women, The Janet and Stanley Harris Alzheimer’s Program Fund and The Sam and Dorothy Goldman Adult Day Care Fund.
